Customs Clearance Obligation – Important Information for International OrdersDear Customer, Thank you for your order from our online store. Since we work with multiple suppliers located in different parts of the world, some shipments may arrive from outside the European Union (for example from Asia, the United States, or the United Kingdom).According to Finnish and EU legislation, all goods imported from outside the EU must be customs cleared. This means you, as the recipient, are responsible for completing the customs declaration (tulliselvitys) and paying any applicable import taxes and duties.Why may customs clearance be required?

  • Our suppliers are located in various countries, so we cannot always guarantee that the package is shipped from within the EU.
  • Shipments from non-EU countries are generally subject to Value Added Tax (VAT) (usually 25.5% in Finland) and possibly customs duties and other import charges.
  • Please note: From 1 July 2026, most shipments valued under €150 will also be subject to a fixed €3 customs fee (rules may still be subject to final confirmation).

How does the process work in practice?When your package arrives in Finland, you will usually receive a notification from Posti or another carrier informing you that the shipment requires customs clearance.

  1. We will send you an invoice or receipt for your order (this includes the value of the goods and shipping costs).
  2. Use this invoice/receipt as proof of the value of the goods when completing the customs declaration.
  3. Perform the customs clearance yourself through the Finnish Customs online service for private persons (requires Finnish online banking credentials or other strong electronic identification).
  4. Pay any import taxes due (VAT, possible customs duty, etc.).
  5. Once the customs declaration is completed and payments are registered, the carrier will deliver the package to you.

  • Always check before ordering whether the product has any import restrictions or prohibitions (e.g. certain food items, medicines, weapons, or hazardous substances).
  • If you do not wish to handle the customs clearance yourself, you can in some cases ask the carrier (e.g. Posti) to do it on your behalf. This may involve additional service fees.
  • Unfortunately, we cannot handle the customs clearance on your behalf, as the legal responsibility lies with the recipient under Finnish law.
